Are Black & White Photos Outdated?
With so many coloring options going in and out of style, how do you know what fits the vibe of your wedding?
Black and white photos have been around forever (or at least since the 1800s). But every year we seem to hear the same question: are they timeless or tacky?
Timeless
Black and white photos can stand the test of time! They offer a classic way to capture the very best of your photo gallery. They look great framed and can be placed in any room regardless of decor.
All your favorite moments are immortalized in true timeless fashion. You'll be able to look back on your big day and remember all your favorite details!
Black and white allow you to be able to focus on the emotion of the moment without districting colors or backgrounds. First look between the bride and groom, mom helping the bride into her dress, the first kiss at the altar, the first dance at the reception, the best man toasting to his best friend; there won't be a dry eye in the house when some these photos come back in black and white!
Grandma Will Love Them
Black and white photos make great gifts to your family!
Your loved ones want to remember this important occasion forever, too. Whether it's photos of them laughing on the dance floor or the embrace of a father and daughter, black and white photos are guaranteed to make it on the refrigerator.
Edgy
You've got to admit it... they're kind of cool.
With the dark tones and dramatic flare, black and white gives your photo an edge. All your wedding photos will be perfect to share with friends and family on Facebook, but the cool black and white ones will totally spice up your Instagram feed.
Monotones bring the drama, while also breaking up your photo gallery. Black and white signals a seriousness to the viewer: "these are the ones you should look at!"
B&W Tips
Ask your photographer if they can include the some of the special pictures they capture in black and white. Filters can be great, but having a professional edit them ensures that all the shadows and highlights are modified correctly. This way you get to keep the special moment exactly as it was meant to be!
While it's nice to capture some of those extra special moments in black and white, we don't recommend saturating your gallery with them. You spent hours obsessing over your color palette and flowers and making sure your nails match the table runner, etc. Don't hide all those details behind a filter!
